Practical Information

Proposals will be accepted from graduate students with an MA or an equivalent degree from all fields of art and design. By equivalent qualification we mean, for instance, a diploma from the time before achieving a MA degree, or a degree equivalent to a Master’s obtained in a country that does not have the BA/MA system. Each case is assessed individuall on the basis of the submitted documents.

PhD candidates in the ECAM Graduate School will be inscribed at the University of Art and Design Linz and have to give in all documents required for the inscription in Linz. (General Admission, PhD conditions of admission)

Candidates of the ECAM Graduate School will have a supervision agreement with a supervisor from the FHNW Academy of Art and Design (HGK FHNW) in Basel and one from the University of Art and Design in Linz (PhD Supervisors) which includes an exposé and a timetable.

The study program takes place at the HGK FHNW in Basel during the regular semester times.
By the end of every semester – except the first and the last – candidates have to hand in a report about the progress of their work to their supervisors.

PhD candidates have to present at least one time their work at the PhD colloquium of the University of Art and Design Linz. The visit of the PhD colloquium in Linz one time a semester is recommended.
